Hacked WordPress Site Repair: Fast Recovery, Clean Code, Locked Doors
A hacked website feels like someone broke into your shop overnight, and in a way they did. The good news is that almost every hacked WordPress site can be recovered, usually faster than you think. At MindChip, our Detroit-based, veteran-owned team restores hacked and malware-infected WordPress websites for businesses across Michigan and the United States. We get you back in, clean out every trace of the attacker, close the door they came through and get Google to trust your site again. You work with one person, Jason Heien, from the first call to the final report. No ticket queue. No overseas handoff.
Tried to Log In and WordPress Doesn't Recognize You as an Admin?

You type your password and WordPress acts like you have never met. Or you get in, but your Plugins and Users menus are gone because your account was downgraded. Password reset emails never arrive because the hacker changed your admin email. This is one of the most common hacks we see, and it is very fixable.
-
Hosting access is the master key: If you can still log in to your hosting account, your site is not lost. We go in through the server and database.
-
Admin role restored: We return your administrator account and remove every fake admin the attacker created.
-
Every door re-keyed: Passwords, security keys and active sessions are all reset, so the attacker is logged out for good.
Locked Out of WordPress and Don't Know Who Your Host Is?

Maybe a former web designer set everything up and you never got the logins, or the person who handled it left the company. We have tracked down plenty of mystery hosts. We find where your site lives, help you prove ownership to the hosting company and domain registrar, get the accounts into your name and then fix the site.
Is Your Website Redirecting Visitors to Spam, Scam or Adult Sites?

Your site looks fine to you, but customers say it sent them to a fake prize page or a pill shop. Redirect hacks hide on purpose. Many only trigger for visitors coming from Google, on mobile phones, or who are not logged in, so the owner is the last to know.
-
Tested like a customer: We check your site from Google, mobile and logged-out visits to catch what you cannot see.
-
Every hiding spot checked: Injected JavaScript, modified .htaccess files, rogue plugins, tampered theme files and poisoned database settings.
-
Backdoor removed: Deleting the redirect alone means it comes back tomorrow. We remove what put it there.
Seeing Japanese Text, Pharmacy Pages or Casino Links in Google Under Your Name?

Search for your business and Google shows hundreds of pages you never made, written in Japanese or selling pills, replica watches or gambling. This is the Japanese keyword hack, also called SEO spam. Hackers borrow your domain’s reputation to rank their junk, and it quietly drags your real rankings down. We delete the spam pages and the code that generates them, return proper “gone” responses for the junk URLs, rebuild a clean XML sitemap and remove any strangers added as owners in your Google Search Console. This is SEO work as much as security work, and SEO happens to be our specialty.
Did Google or Chrome Start Warning "This Site May Be Hacked" or "Dangerous Site Ahead"?

A red screen in Chrome or a “This site may be hacked” label in Google results scares away almost every visitor. We clean the site completely, confirm it is clean from the outside and submit the security review in Google Search Console with a clear record of what we fixed. Google says a review can take from a few days to a few weeks, so the faster and cleaner the fix, the sooner the warning comes off. We also check the other blocklists browsers and security tools use.
Did Your Hosting Company Suspend Your Account for Malware?

Your site is offline and your host sent a scary email about malicious files. Hosts suspend accounts to protect their other customers, and most will not clean the site for you. We work with your host to get temporary access, clean every infected file on the account, not just your main site, and give the host what it needs to restore service.
Was Your Homepage Replaced With a Hacker's Message?

This is called a defacement. It is loud and embarrassing, and often the easiest hack to fix. The real danger is what you cannot see, because defacers usually leave backdoors behind. We restore your real site, remove the hidden access points and find out how they got in.
Found New Admin Users, Plugins or Files You Never Added?
An admin named “wpadmin2,” a plugin with a random name, PHP files sitting in your uploads folder. These are calling cards. Even if the site looks normal, someone has a way in. We remove every unauthorized user, plugin and file, check your WordPress core files against the official versions and close the hole they used.
Is Your Domain Sending Spam Email or Landing on Blacklists?
Customers say your emails go to junk, or your host warns about outgoing spam. Hackers often turn compromised WordPress sites into spam cannons. We shut down the mail scripts, clean the site, help get your domain and server delisted and tighten your email authentication so your real messages land in the inbox again.
Has Your Website or Domain Been Hijacked?

Sometimes it is not malware at all. Your domain points to someone else’s website, your DNS settings changed, your registrar login stopped working, or a former developer refuses to hand over your site. Website hijacking is about control, and getting control back comes first.
-
Accounts recovered: We help you reclaim your domain registrar and hosting accounts and put them in your name.
-
DNS corrected: Your domain points back to your real website and email.
-
Logins secured: Every account gets a strong password and two-factor authentication.
-
Rebuilt if needed: If an old provider will not cooperate, we can rebuild from backups, server copies or public archives.
Your Site Keeps Getting Hacked Again After You Clean It?
Your security plugin said “clean,” and two weeks later the spam was back. That means the cleanup removed the symptoms and missed the backdoor, or the original weak spot was never fixed. We find what scanners miss, such as hidden admin users, scheduled tasks, modified core files and infected database rows, then patch the vulnerability that let them in.
Is Your Site Crawling, Crashing or Showing a White Screen?
A sudden slowdown, a white screen or a server stuck at 100 percent can mean malware is mining crypto or sending spam from your account. Sometimes it is just a bad update. Either way, we diagnose it, fix it and tell you exactly what caused it. If Google Ads disapproved your ads for “malicious software,” we clean the site and walk you through the ads review so your campaigns run again.
Most Hacked Sites Are Fixed Within 24 Hours

Every hour a hacked site stays live costs you customers, trust and rankings. We treat recovery like an emergency, because it is one. Here is how we work:
-
Lock it down: We secure your hosting, reset every password and security key and close active sessions so the attacker loses access.
-
Back it up first: A full snapshot of the infected site is saved before we touch anything, so nothing is lost.
-
Find every infection: We scan files and the database, compare core, plugins and themes to official clean copies and hand-check what scanners miss.
-
Remove malware and backdoors: Malicious code, fake admins, spam pages, hidden redirects and rogue scheduled tasks all go.
-
Close the entry point: Outdated plugin, nulled theme, weak password, bad file permissions or a forgotten old copy of the site. We find it and fix it.
-
Restore and test: Pages, forms, checkout and logins are tested on desktop and mobile, logged in and logged out.
-
Clear the warnings: We request Google security reviews, check blocklists and clean up spam URLs in search results.
-
Harden and report: You get a plain-English report of what happened, what we fixed and what keeps it from happening again.
Severe infections, large WooCommerce stores or sites where we first have to recover lost hosting or domain access can take longer, and we will tell you that up front.
Not One Website We Built Has Ever Been Hacked

That is not luck. It is how we build. Every MindChip website is designed, developed, hosted and maintained with security baked in from day one, not bolted on after something goes wrong. When we recover your site, we bring it up to the same standard.
-
No nulled or pirated software: Pirated plugins and themes are one of the most common ways hackers get in. We never use them.
-
Lean builds: Fewer plugins means fewer doors to lock. We build with Bricks Builder and custom code instead of stacking dozens of plugins.
-
Hardened, US-based hosting: Firewalls, malware scanning, isolated resources and secure server settings.
-
Updates handled for you: Core, plugins and themes stay patched and tested through our maintenance plans.
-
Locked-down logins: Strong passwords, limited admin accounts, two-factor authentication and login attempt limits.
-
Off-site backups: If anything ever goes wrong, a clean copy is ready to restore.
Do This Right Now While You Wait for Us
-
Do not delete the site or cancel your hosting: That can wipe out the clean files and evidence we can save.
-
Change your hosting password: Turn on two-factor authentication if your host offers it.
-
Do not pay anyone who offers to “unlock” your site: Paying an attacker almost never ends well.
-
Do not install five security plugins at once: It can crash the site and hide what happened.
-
Write down what you noticed and when: Strange emails, warnings and customer complaints help us move faster.

Hacked WordPress Site Repair Questions

Can you fix my site if I am locked out of WordPress but still have hosting access?
Yes. Hosting access is all we need. We work through the server and database to restore your administrator account, remove the hacker’s accounts and reset every login. Most lockouts are resolved within a few hours.
Why does my website look fine to me but customers say it sends them to spam?
Many redirect hacks are built to hide from site owners. They only trigger for visitors arriving from Google, on mobile phones, or who are not logged in. We test your site the way your customers see it and remove the hidden code.
Will being hacked hurt my Google rankings?
It can, especially with spam pages or a Google warning. The faster the cleanup, the less damage. We remove spam URLs, rebuild your sitemap and request Google reviews so your rankings can recover.
How long does it take Google to remove the "This site may be hacked" warning?
Once your site is clean, we submit a review in Google Search Console the same day. Google states a review can take from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the issue.
Is restoring an old backup enough to fix a hack?
Usually not. Backups often contain the same vulnerability, and sometimes the hidden backdoor itself. Without closing the entry point, the site gets reinfected. We use backups as a starting point, then clean and patch.
My security plugin says my site is clean, so why is it still hacked?
Scanners look for known patterns. Skilled attackers hide code in the database, scheduled tasks, fake plugin files or modified core files that scanners can miss. We check by hand as well as with tools.
Can you recover my site if my old web developer will not give me access?
Usually, yes. If you own the domain, we help you recover the registrar and hosting accounts and move everything into your name. If the old provider controls the hosting, we can often rebuild from backups or server copies.
What if my hosting company deleted my site after suspending it?
Ask your host for any backups right away, since many keep them for a limited time. We can also recover content from local copies, old exports or public web archives and rebuild the site.
Do I need to pay the hacker to get my site back?
No. Do not pay anyone who contacts you claiming they can unlock your website. There is no guarantee they will, and it marks you as a target. We recover the site without dealing with the attacker.
How did my site get hacked in the first place?
The most common causes are outdated plugins or themes, pirated “nulled” software, weak or reused passwords, forgotten old copies of the site on the same server and insecure hosting. Your recovery report tells you exactly which one it was.
Was my customers' information stolen?
We look for signs of data access, such as card skimmers, database exports and suspicious logins, and document what we find with dates. That gives you facts to share with your payment processor, insurer or attorney.
Can you repair a hacked site that another company built?
Yes. Most sites we recover were built by someone else. We work with any WordPress theme or page builder, including Elementor, Divi, Bricks and custom themes.
How do I keep my site from getting hacked again?
Keep everything updated, use strong unique passwords with two-factor authentication, avoid pirated plugins and use quality hosting. Our maintenance and hosting plans handle all of it, which is why no site we have built has ever been hacked.
Do you offer emergency hacked website repair after hours?
Usually not. Hacks do not keep business hours, But we have to sleep sometime. We are very accommodating for rush and active emergencies. Contact us and we will respond as fast as possible.
